LA POSIZIONE
Qui via Arenula apre su piazza Cairoli, tra Largo Arenula e Largo di Torre Argentina da un lato, Lungotevere de’ Cenci e dall’Isola Tiberina dall’altro. 
Via Arenula segna il confine tra le zone di Campo dei Fiori e del Ghetto, tra i rioni Sant’Angelo, Ripa e Regola.

IL CONTESTO STORICO 
Il palazzo è sintesi della “stratificazione” tipica del centro: il fabbricato sulla via è ottocentesco, oltre il cortile è la struttura più antica – quella dell’appartamento, che affaccia sulle vie più appartate – risale verosimilmente alla fine del diciassettesimo secolo.
Il lato sinistro del cortile è uno dei fianchi della chiesa di Santa Maria in Publicolis, nei secoli inglobata nell’evoluzione abitativa del palazzo.
È stato istallato un ascensore esterno al fabbricato, che arriva mezzo piano sopra/sotto al pianerottolo.

L’APPARTAMENTO
Terzo e ultimo piano – sopra di noi le soffitte, proprietà condominiale indivisa.
I 212 mq affacciano ad est-sudest su via in Publicolis sulla torre medievale di Palazzo Santacroce e a sud-sudovest su via di Santa Maria del Pianto, in vista di largo Cairoli e del Ghetto; solo il balcone dà sul cortile. 
Un saggio ha riportato alla luce i soffitti in legno ornati. 
Entrando a sinistra dell’ ingresso è il soggiorno di circa 40 mq, sono tre le camere e due i bagni.

PROGETTO
Una rilettura contemporanea vedrebbe aprire tutto il primo ambiente, dall’ingresso fino al fronte esterno a creare un grande rappresentanza rivolta a sud; l’attuale soggiorno potrebbe diventare la zona padronale: un grande guardaroba d’ingresso e, a seguire, la camera da letto con affaccio su via in Publicolis. L’ambiente d’angolo potrebbe in parte diventare una grande cucina, direttamente connessa con la rappresentanza – osservare la terza planimetria.

THE POSITION
Here Via Arenula opens onto Piazza Cairoli, between Largo Arenula and Largo di Torre Argentina on one side, Lungotevere de’ Cenci and the Tiber Island on the other. Via Arenula marks the border between the areas of Campo dei Fiori and the Ghetto, between the Sant’Angelo, Ripa and Regola districts.

THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT The building is a synthesis of the “stratification” typical of the centre: the building on the street is nineteenth-century, beyond the courtyard is the oldest structure – that of the apartment, which overlooks the most secluded streets – probably dates back to the end of the seventeenth century.
The left side of the courtyard is one of the sides of the church of Santa Maria in Publicolis, which over the centuries was incorporated into the residential evolution of the palace.
An elevator has been installed outside the building, which reaches half a floor above/below the landing.

THE APARTMENT
Third and last floor – the garrets above us, undivided condominium property.
The 212 m2 overlook to the east-southeast onto via in Publicolis on the medieval tower of Palazzo Santacroce and to the south-southwest onto via di Santa Maria del Pianto, with a view of Largo Cairoli and the Ghetto; only the balcony overlooks the courtyard. A sage revealed the ancient wooden ceilings. Entering to the left of the entrance is the living room of approximately 40 m2, there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

PROJECT
A contemporary reinterpretation would see the entire first room opened up, from the entrance to the external front to create a large representation facing south; the current living room could become the master area: a large entrance/wardrobe and, following, the bedroom overlooking via in Publicolis. The corner room could partly become a large kitchen, directly connected to the reception area – see the third floor plan.
